We are big fans of French work jackets at The Nautical Company and we finally found one cut for our ladies ! Made in quality heavy cotton canvas, unlined, single breasted with flat buttons, a flat collar, two large front pockets, one small front chest one and one small internal one with zip to keep your small belongings safe.
You will love its simple functionality with a straight cut. A must for the seaside wardrobe but just as easily worn as an urban or vintage style.
Beware, the manufacturer has revised and increased the bust sizing measurement for 2025/2026. It is essentially the same garment with the same design and cotton canvas weight fabric but the sizing is different. See the table below.
We listed the two as such:
- Original: refers to the jacket produced before 2025. The internal body seams are finished with a navy waves print fabric. If you cannot take measurements, we would recommend to opt for your normal UK size.
- Revised: refers to the jacket produced for 2025/2026. The dye is ever so slightly darker than the original one. The internal body seams are finished with a plain navy. We found the jacket generous in bust size. If you cannot take measurements, we recommend to go one size down your normal UK size, unless you are after an oversized fit or wish to wear a thick jumper or a fleece underneath.

I bought this jacket recently and am very happy to recommend it. The quality is excellent, a good weight in the fabric and the fit is true to size.
